While I was at AGP waiting for the Emily event I spoke to a very nice employee who was also very informative.

We talked about the new movies for awhile, both Molly's and Kit's and she told me they choose movies based on what's going on in the world at the time.

She said that Molly was chosen because the country was at war at the time and now we're involved in another war. She started laughing and told me she thinks AG believes we're headed for another depression.

She also got to look at my wb Molly and admitted things about quality that no other employee ever has. Which is why I won't post her name.

I just thought it was very interesting to hear how the movies were chosen. But I'm still trying to figure out the logic behind Samantha and Felicity...

Thats actually what I was thinking when they made the Molly movie. I know that with Sam I heard them saying that they wanted the social class difference between the girls to represent how many priviledged girls today might not be as aware of the poor. This is something that could be said of any era though. As for Felicity. Well, I certainly don't want to get into politics, but I think that one could be related to the fact that many people in the US right now are very decisive over what our country should be doing in terms of the middle east situation and the war in Iraq and I think the Patriot vs Loyalist family situation of Felicity and Elizabeth reflects that. Just a thought.

That makes so much sense about the Felicity movie! I didn't think about that!

I think that Kit's movie was chosen in part by questionnaire. I remember a box on the website a while back that asked what character's stories you wanted to see made into a movie next. I think it showed the results, and Kit had a lot of votes.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I remember that. If I recall, Marisol had the most votes (she was the LE at the time), and Kit was second. I am so happy that they are finally doing a Kit movie!

It would be great if one of these times, they actually did make a movie of the LE doll and air it right around the time she releases. That would give them plenty of time to make money off the LE merchandise before it retires.

I've always thought that one of the reasons they did Samantha's movie in 2004 was to celebrate the 100th "anniversary" of her stories. Other than that, I never saw any direct logic in choosing the first two girls, either! Shortie, your musings make a lot of sense.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">While Marisol may have had high "positives", she also has a significant high "negative" rating as well, due to the furor over her family's move. I do not think AG wants to have that issue raised again and, thus, Marisol probably won't be a candidate for a movie.

I'm sure there are many factors that go into picking the next movie. Sales, current socio/policital fit, what people are asking for, what the producers think will work... They might commission scripts on various girls and which script is coming together the best could even play a part.

My sister voted for Marisol and I was so scared... I did NOT want them to make a movie for an LE. I really love the historical movies (well, maybe not the fact that they enable me a lot) and I didn't want a modern one yet.
